Take a dose of what it means to be AMG.

A day's outfit, my travels, and just about everything in-between: see life through my lens as I experience and live to tell the tale.

EVERYDAY ENSEMBLES

BUSINESS CAUSAL

This Everyday Ensemble comes from the beautiful Jess Eddmeiri. A lovely classmate and sorority sister of mine. On this day, we, and several other students, traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska to listen to testimony in regards to First Amendment right protections for student journalists.

One of our classmates ended up testifying in proposition of the bill along with several other students, advisers, and activists from across the state. We'll know the results and if it passes the committee in a few weeks!

So with that, we dressed up in our finest business casual and headed off to advocate for the Nebraska student journalist of the future.

A bold color is always the way to go when you're pairing black and white and in this case the color red not only adds a pop of color, but also makes a strong and assertive statement without a single word. The bright red sweater from H&M pairs perfectly with black slacks. It's simple yet elegant, young yet classic.

To carry the red throughout, she tossed on a pair of floral pointed pumps from JustFab which incorporated a combination pattern taking the standard look to another level.

And finally for added warmth and texture, Jess topped the outfit off with a hounds-tooth peacoat from Express.

This combination is ideal for any business casual occasion, from interviews to conferences or in this case public hearings.

Uhh..

Let's just say not everyone has the time, or skill, to keep up with their nails. And I'm here to tell you that that's perfectly okay!!

I have NEVER been savvy in the nail department, but after taking off some un-kept acryllics, I resorted to self-painting and let's just say the week old result here isn't much better than the initial fresh coat I attempted to apply..

That being said, today's outfit was another cozy collaboration. Over-sized sweaters are a must when it's chilly out, so if you don't have a collection just yet I suggest you hit the nearest thrift and stock up.

I like to stick with solid colors to keep them versatile with any bottoms, from jeans to leggings or pair it with a skirt when the weather hits that in-between season. With a plain dominant piece, you can always have a little bit more fun with accessories. The colorful headband works to bring a splash of pzazz and even though it's a casual fit, the gold earrings play into the vintage aura.

I kept it fairly casual on bottom with a not-so-tight pair of Tommy Hilfiger straight-cut jeans. 10/10 recommend. And then once again, I slipped on my white Adidas Superstars.

 MOM JEANS

It's barely 40 degrees out and the wind is blowing, so what do you wear?

If I'm feeling comfortable and causal, a loose pair of mom-jeans with a cozy long sleeve is a perfect fit. It's loose enough to allow a nice flow for indoors but also to trap body heat when you're out in the cold - paired with a jacket of course!

I love the vintage angle of the jeans with the modern professional look of a button-up. With the slip-on shoes it's the perfect balance between classy and casual. The high pony, slightly messy hair plays into the cozy aspect and the addition of statement studs brings all of the lighter colored articles into harmony.

Keeping make-up on the lighter side makes this a great everyday outfit that can be for anything from attending classes to shopping to brunch!

To dress these lighter colors up, I would suggest a tan or caramel open-toed ankle bootie to add a little more sophistication. Throw on some bracelets and tame the hair and you've got yourself a new take with the same fit.

Today's outfit:
Passport pinstripe button-up
$1 Mom-Jeans from the ARC
Adidas Superstars
